MEMORIAL DAY

We had a GREAT Memorial Day. Every year we go to Blackfoot and spend the day. We meet all of Bryan's family at the cematary that morning and we usually spend about an hour there. I never knew Bryan's dad, in fact, none of the grand kids ever knew him. I LOVE this part of our Memorial Day. I LOVE that we all meet there and everyone share's things that they remember about Stan. I think it's GREAT for the grand kids to hear stories about their Grandpa and get to know him in a way. I know that he was a GREAT man, and a VERY LOVED man and that he is VERY missed!! Even by those who did not have the opportunity to know him. But we know we will be with him someday!!

Oakleigh picking her flowers!! She thought they were so pretty!!

After we left the cematary we went down to the river bottoms and had a cook out!! The kids love doing this. They love being able to run around and explore, and they love roasting hot dogs over the fire!! Gets everyone excited to go camping!! :)
Nathan, Wyatt, and Oakleigh doing a little exploring!! It's amazing some of the things that they find!!
After we got done eating the kids decided to wade out into the water. It was still pretty shallow. And the weather was so nice that the water felt great!!
Cassy, Harley, Paige, and Madi!!
You can't build a fire and not have S'Mores!! As you can see, Oakleigh LOVED them!! I think she ate 3!! :)
On our way home from Blackfoot, we stopped at the Annis cematary where my Grandpa Madsen and Grandma Olsen are burried. It's always fun to share memories and stories with my kids. It makes me sad that they didn't get to know these GREAT people, but I also take great comfort in knowing that they will get to meet and know all of them one day!!

I love the pic of Oakleigh and her smore. She definitely knows how to handle that thing! So cute!

That is a neat tradition your family does for Memorial Day. We haven't really had to deal with very much death, so the kids don't know about the holiday but I hope when the time comes we can make a neat family tradition like you guys have. How Fun!

I still wish we could have joined in with the rest of the fun. It looked like the kids had such a good time. Dang sicknesses! It always strikes when your looking forward to something.
